The Book of Kells contains lavishly decorated interpretations of the four gospels. It is estimated that the Book of Kells was produced back in the 9th Century on the island of Iona, off the cost of Scotland. It is said that the book was moved to Kells, in Co. Meath, Ireland for safe keeping during the times of Viking raids. The Book was moved to its current home, in Dublin’s own Trinity College in 1653. It remains there, on display for visitors to see and admire the rich history.
