Crafted of sterling silver, The Moone cross is double sided. Pendant measures approx 1 5/8”L x 9/16”W and comes on an 18" sterling silver, stock chain. It is a cross that it suitable for ladies or gents.
The beautiful Celtic High Cross at Moone was constructed from granite during the 10th century and can be visited inside the ruins of the medieval church at Moone, County Kildare. It was found over many years in parts and was subsequently restored. Completed, the true cross stands at 17.5 feet tall. The cross is in an ancient monastery, believed to have been founded by Saint Palladius who came to Ireland in 431. It was later dedicated to Saint Columcille. Irish high crosses were constructed to act as embellishments or boundaries for monasteries. This pendant, a stunning replica of this extraordinary cross, which includes references to both the old and new testaments.
